Cultar is safe, improves quality of mango crops, popular among farmers for 25 years: Syngenta India
Ahmedabad, June 07, 2022: Complimenting Gujarat mango farmers for their leadership position in growing quality mango, Syngenta India on Monday said that it was committed to provide best solutions to ensure that Gujarat’s strong standing in horticulture continues.
In a press note, the company highlighted how its innovative solutions including powerful plant regulator Cultar has helped Gujarat’s farmers grow high-quality mango for the last 25 years. “Cultar is safe and gives a holistic boost to mango crop without any negative impact either on the quantum of output and nutrients of the yield,” said Syngenta India in a statement.
Dr K C Ravi, Chief Sustainability Officer, Syngenta India Pvt Ltd, said: “Cultar is a trusted product used by thousands of farmers across Gujarat, UP, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Bihar. Owing to its superior R&D and proven efficacy - having been used by farmers for over 25 years now - Cultar has been approved by the National Horticulture Board, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.”
The note further stressed that the product conforms to finest scientific standards. The bio-efficacy trial locations for Cultar are Department of Horticulture, GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pant Nagar, Uttarakhand; Fruit Research Station, Sangareddy, Andhra Pradesh; Regional Fruit Research Station Kokan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Vengurla to name a few. “Our field staff constantly engage with farmers to ensure its judicious use for effective outcomes. Cultar is an excellent product with proven benefits for the mango fruits. Over 10,000 farmers have been happily using Syngenta Cultar for the last 25 years, which has helped to increase upto 40% of quality mango yield every year,” added Dr Ravi.
Terming Cultar as an outstanding product of Syngenta, Dr Ravi said that farmers and their interest are non-negotiable for us under any circumstances, a key factor which has made Syngenta a true companion of millions of smallholders in India for decades now. “Every product of Syngenta India passes through tests, trials and regulatory processes. Our research and development (R&D) facility is one of the best in the world,” the note said.
Cultar helps in early flowering, blossoming and fruit buds at the same time. The product helps in excellent fruit growth regardless of less rainfall. Cultar is also highly effective in the problem of unusual flowers in Mango crops.
In compliance to Indian robust regulatory framework, Cultar (Paclobutrazol) being a PGR (Plant Growth Regulator) has undergone extensive data generation / testing program, following stipulated regulatory guidelines and via generating bio efficacy, crop selectivity, residue, product storage stability, human, environment safety data generation. “This has been submitted to CIB & RC and the whole registration process takes around 5 years of data generation, scrutiny of studies / dossier by regulatory authority before granting registration,” he added.
Syngenta products are most tested and regulated. To bring a new product to the market it takes 10 years of intensive R&D. On an average 160000 molecules have been screened to find the right one to address the problem. It requires 150 studies designed and validated by regulatory authorities to ensure the molecule is developed into a safe and effective product. “Scientifically approved, Cultar ensures 12-15 days early flowering. Even in less rainfall, the product gives uniform and good quality fruits,” added Dr Ravi.
