Syngenta I-CLEAN, a CSR initiative launched by Syngenta was awarded with Corporate Excellence Award 2015 presented by Lokmat. Syngenta I-CELAN project was awarded as the Best CSR Campaign of the Year category. The award was received by K C Ravi and K S Narayanan from Corporate Affairs team at the recently held Award Ceremony at Mumbai.
Corporate Excellence Award is a Corporate Excellence Award given to corporates who showcase the best of responsible business in action. The awards aspire to be the most influential, independent, peer assessed awards. The award seeks to identify and celebrate those companies that have had positive impact on our environment and society as well as their business. The awards aim to recognize and reward business excellence across all sectors, private, public and charity.
Syngenta I-CLEAN is a project aimed at empowering Rural Prosperity through CSR. I-CLEAN stands for Cleanliness Learning, Education, Awareness and New Habits among communities, especially in rural and remote areas, to enable them to lead dignified, hygienic and healthy lives. It is a social awareness and intervention program inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' – a campaign to support cleanliness and building toilets to stop open defecation. Through this project Syngenta India has gone beyond merely constructing toilets under the “Clean India Mission” and has taken upon itself the responsibility to upgrade vegetable markets and rural livelihoods in remote areas. Syngenta India selected East Champaran District in Bihar to kick start the I-CLEAN initiative because of its huge historical significance. Mahatma Gandhi upon his arrival from South Africa had launched his first Satyagraha movement from here, which eventually culminated in India's struggle for Independence.
This award has also recognized Syngenta’s CSR contribution towards Swachh Bharat Abhiyan across the Country. The Waste Management Projects and School Sanitation projects in Goa, the safe drinking water projects and school toilet projects implemented by the Syngenta Me & Mine also have been recognized through this award.
