Asia Best CSR Practices Award to Syngenta India

Syngenta India was honoured with the 7th Asia Best CSR Practices Awards by World CSR Congress & Awards held at Le Meridian Singapore, Sentosa on 1 August 2017.  The 7th Asia Best CSR Practices Award was one of the highest recognitions given to corporate organisations that have a significant and positive impact on the lives of people around them.  The Awards were hosted by CMO Asia.

Syngenta India won this award for its contribution to society through CSR initiatives such as Syngenta I-CLEAN Project, Syngenta Irrigation project, Syngenta Krishi Vikas and for Community Engagement initiatives.

Syngenta I-CLEAN project is aimed at empowering Rural Prosperity. I-CLEAN stands for Inculcating Cleanliness Learning, Education, Awareness and New Habits among communities, especially in rural and remote areas, to enable them to lead dignified, hygienic and healthy lives. With three projects implemented so far, it is now being extended to other regions in Bihar and partnered by three new NGOs to implement in 24 more villages in Bihar.

Syngenta Irrigation project is a unique and first-of-its kind irrigation project aimed at supporting the growers by installing Hose Reel Irrigation Machines with a capacity of disbursing water in a 60 metre radius across the fields. This is a joint CSR initiative of Syngenta India Limited and Syngenta Foundation India that aims to tackle a major problem of timely and sufficient availability of water to the growers in this area. This would also help growers to achieve higher productivity with optimum utilization of scarce water resource in the commonly shared land covered under the irrigation projects. After the implementation of two pilot project, in the 1st phase, 15 groups for 20 farmers each have been identified in Bihar state for implementation. The project will be extended to Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra etc.

Syngenta Krishi Vikas supported the farmers in the state of Punjab and Haryana where they were devastated by an unprecedented white fly attack resulting in destruction of 60-70 percent of the cotton crop. Through this project Syngenta supported 6300 farmers through distribution of treated quality wheat seeds along with crop care solution kit in collaboration with Panjab Agriculture University and the Agriculture Departments of Punjab and Haryana.

Community Development Projects are primarily implemented in Syngenta operational villages. Syngenta has its manufacturing locations, R&D Centers, Seed production villages across the country but primarily in Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa etc. The development activities are planned with active engagement/involvement of local community. The priority areas of focus are – Education, Drinking Water, Sanitation, Tree plantations etc.
