| Syngenta crop protection products are made in our manufacturing plants around
the world, and in some regions by external suppliers. Syngenta has a
responsibility to protect the environment and preserve the health and safety of
its employees, local communities and customers. |
| |
The effective management of health and safety – as well as protecting the
environment – is integral to the company’s business success and determines its
license to operate. Syngenta sets high standards on environmental protection in
manufacturing, and the safe transport of potentially hazardous chemicals. Line
managers are responsible for implementing the Health, Safety and Environment
(HSE) policy. Everyone at Syngenta is accountable for HSE. |
| |
HSE is a critically important component of corporate responsibility. Syngenta
sets clear targets and reports regularly on its performance. In 2006, Syngenta
reduced its Injury and Illness Rate (IIR) to 0.43. This puts it in the upper
quartile of industry performance in health and safety. |
|
| |
|
| Syngenta takes HSE considerations into account during the selection of
contractors, toll manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that competent partners
are selected. The company conducts audits of its major suppliers to ensure they
meet its HSE standards. Close cooperation with its manufacturing partners to
make HSE a priority helps ensure safe and uninterrupted production of Syngenta
products. |
